About us The Sustainable Development Goals at Valeriana
Did you know that Valeriana is also guided by the UN’s “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs)? No?! Well, then let us start from the beginning and tell you why they’re so important to us and what they’re all about.
The Sustainable Development goals have been published by the UN. Together, the 17 goals form a global plan to promote sustainable peace and prosperity, and protect our planet. Since 2015, work has been underway around the world to translate this shared vision for the fight against poverty and the reduction of inequality into national development plans.
These goals also set the direction for our work at Valeriana. Specifically, these four in particular:
SDG 4: Quality Education
At Valeriana, we want to ensure inclusive, equal and quality education for our employees and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. We want to achieve this through our offer of free German courses, professional development and on-the-job training.
SDG 5: Gender Equality
We promote gender equality. We empower women and girls towards self-determination. Through their work at Valeriana, our employees gain financial security and independence, further their education and can act as role models for their children and other women.
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
We promote permanent, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment as well as decent work. For we know that when our employees are doing well, we are doing well.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequality
With Valeriana, we want to bring society closer together, promote cooperation on equal terms and thereby reduce inequality between countries and people. We support our employees in setting roots in Switzerland thus promote their integration into society.
